The Jaguar XJ: Good For Jay Leno, Good For You Too?

There are a number of different luxury and performance saloons on the market in 2014, each made by different car manufacturers and offering all sorts of creature comforts and technological innovations designed to aid the discerning car driver and their passengers so that a truly enjoyable automotive experience is received by those who travel in the car!

Jaguar XJBut one particularly popular executive saloon which is British designed and built, and even has fans across the pond such as Jay Leno, is the Jaguar’s flagship car, the XJ. The American television personality is well-known for his love of cars and has an insanely large collection of vehicles, including a jet-powered car!

He obviously has a soft spot for the British marque and went so far as to have a brand new one built for him and shipped over to the United States; check out the link above to see a slideshow of images depicted the build of his new Jaguar XJ and the subsequent transport to and from the shipping ports, before finally making its way to him on a car transporter in the USA!

Of course, one cannot just rely on the love of a particular car by a famous television personality to decide whether that car will be your “cup of tea” or not, so before you set off looking for Jaguar cars for sale, here is what you need to know about the current model Jaguar XJ!

Under the hood

The Jaguar XJ is not your usual executive saloon, because it comes a number of different (and powerful) engine choices; even the diesel offering is not too shabby!

For starters, the two supercharged engines (a 3.0-litre V6 with 335 brake horsepower and a 5.0-litre V8 with 503 brake horsepower) are ridiculously fast motorway stormers, and are a couple of beastly engines that will give virtually any high-performance car a run for its money!

Of course, some people find insane amounts of power a little too much to handle (and let’s face it; they are going to be very thirsty on petrol), so a more-refined alternative which I would probably recommend over the gas guzzlers is the 3.0-litre V6 diesel model. But don’t be put off by the fact that it’s a diesel, for it’s still a powerful engine in its own right (it has a 0 to 60 time of just 6 seconds).

On the road

Performance isn’t the only thing that draws people to the allure of the Jaguar XJ, because there is also the fact that it’s an extremely comfortable car to sit in and drive! Some folks may find that the Jaguar XJ is a little on the firm side when driving at low speeds, but then you’d be worried if a car that can pack such a punch was ill-equipped to have responsive handling to complement the raw engine power!

Safety was obviously high up on the list of features to include in the current model, and there is a plethora of airbags inside of the car.
